Alloy FCR200ST is a Fast Ethernet media converter that converts a copper 10/100Base-TX (RJ-45) connection into a 100Base-FX multimode fibre link over an ST connector, with a fibre range of up to 2km. It's built for network installers and IT staff who need to bridge a Fast Ethernet link from copper to fibre — either as a standalone unit or as a hot-swap module in an Alloy DCR12 chassis.

Compatibility

On the copper side, the FCR200ST connects to any standard Fast Ethernet (10/100Base-TX) network device through its RJ-45 port — switches, routers, NVRs, or other Ethernet gear with an auto-sensing 10/100Mbps port. On the fibre side, it requires 100Base-FX multimode fibre cable terminated with ST connectors. It is not compatible with singlemode fibre or with LC, SC, or MT-RJ connectors — those are covered by other models in Alloy's wider FCR200 Series.

It can be used as a standalone device on a desk or shelf, or slid into an Alloy DCR12 Series 12-slot media converter chassis as a hot-swap module for centralised, rack-mounted deployments.

Note: the FCR200ST is a network media converter — it does not connect directly to printers, receipt printers, or EFTPOS terminals.

Why Choose the FCR200ST

If you're extending a Fast Ethernet link past standard copper distance limits, or bridging a copper switch to a fibre backbone, the FCR200ST handles the conversion in either a standalone or rack-chassis setup, so you're not locked into one installation style. Link Fault Passthrough means a break on one side of the link is passed through to the other side, so connected equipment can detect the fault rather than showing a false "up" status. How far can the FCR200ST run over fibre?

Up to 2km on fibre; the copper RJ-45 side is limited to the standard 100m Ethernet range.

How is the FCR200ST powered?
