Who this unit is for
This is one Deco unit, sold as a 1-pack. Use it on its own to replace an existing router in a small space, or add extra Deco X50 / Deco X50-PoE units later to extend coverage across a larger site — they mesh together under one WiFi network name. If you need coverage over a bigger footprint from the start, TP-Link also sells this unit in 2-pack and 3-pack kits.
Compatibility and power

Does the TP-Link Deco X50-PoE need a PoE switch or injector?
No. It ships with a DC power adapter, so it also runs from a normal power point. To power it over Ethernet instead, you need an 802.3at PoE switch or injector — the older 802.3af standard isn't supported.
Can I mix this with regular (non-PoE) Deco X50 units?
Yes. Deco X50-PoE and Deco X50 units mesh together on one network. Just note a standard X50 can't power this unit over PoE — it still needs its own power source.
How much space does one unit cover?
Up to 230 m² (2,500 sq ft). For bigger sites, add more Deco X50 / X50-PoE units to the same mesh, or choose a 2-pack or 3-pack.
How many devices can connect at once?
Up to 150 devices per unit — enough for a small office or retail counter running POS terminals, printers, phones, and WiFi cameras together.
Does this replace my router, or work alongside it?
It replaces your router or access point — connect your modem straight to the Deco unit. To extend a wired network instead, use its 2.5 Gbps or Gigabit port.
What's the difference between the 2.5 Gbps port and the Gigabit port?
Both are auto-sensing WAN/LAN. Use the 2.5 Gbps port for your fastest connection — a multi-gig modem or a NAS, for example.
Is WiFi 6 worth it for a business network?
Yes. OFDMA and 2×2 MU-MIMO keep performance stable when several devices — POS terminals, staff phones, customer WiFi — are active at once.
