Staedtler Noris Digital Classic Stylus (EMR Pen) - 180 22-1

$34.13

Staedtler Noris Digital Classic is an EMR (electromagnetic resonance) stylus pencil for writing and drawing on compatible touchscreen tablets and 2-in-1 devices — it pairs with the screen's built-in digitizer, so there is no Bluetooth pairing and no battery to charge.

Compatibility — check this first

This stylus only works with screens that have an EMR digitizer built in (the same underlying technology used by Wacom and S Pen–enabled devices). It is not compatible with Apple iPad or iPhone, and it will not work on a standard capacitive touchscreen (most phones and budget tablets) that doesn't have an EMR layer.

Devices commonly built with EMR support include Samsung Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note models with S Pen support, Kindle Scribe, reMarkable 1 and 2, and select Lenovo Yoga Book and Wacom-equipped displays. Device support varies by exact model, so check your tablet or laptop's specifications for "EMR" or "Wacom AES/EMR pen support" before ordering if you're not sure.

What's in the box

  • 1 x Noris digital stylus pencil
  • 5 x replacement nibs
  • 1 x nib-swap tool
  • Supplied in a cardboard box

Why it works well for everyday use

Because it draws power from the screen itself, there's no charging cable to lose and no Bluetooth setup — pick it up and it works. The hexagonal pencil shape and 0.7mm tip give it a grip and point closer to a real pencil than a touchscreen pen, which is why it's often used as an alternative to a manufacturer-branded stylus (such as an S Pen) when the original is lost, damaged, or needs a backup. Replacement nibs are included in the box, so you're covered as the tip wears down with regular use.

Is this compatible with my iPad or iPhone?

No. This stylus uses EMR technology, and Apple devices use a different digitizer system.

What is EMR, and how do I know if my tablet supports it?

EMR (electromagnetic resonance) is a digitizer built into the screen itself — the same tech behind most Samsung S Pen devices. Check your device specs for "EMR" or "Wacom AES/EMR pen support" to confirm.

Does it need charging or Bluetooth pairing?

No. It's fully passive — no battery, no cable, no pairing. It's powered by the screen's own EMR digitizer.

What's the difference between this and my device's original stylus (e.g. an S Pen)?

This is a third-party EMR stylus, not a manufacturer-branded S Pen. It works the same way on any matching EMR screen and is commonly used as a backup or replacement pen.

How many nibs come with it, and how do I replace one?

The box includes 5 replacement nibs and a swap tool. The tool pulls the worn nib out; the new one pushes straight back in.

What does "4,096 pressure levels" mean?

It's the stylus's pressure sensitivity range — more levels means finer control over line thickness and shading in apps that support it.

Will this work on a phone?

Only if the phone has an EMR digitizer built in. Most phones use capacitive-only touchscreens and won't register it.

Is this a genuine Staedtler product?

Yes — supplied by Staedtler, SKU 180 22-1, not a generic compatible stylus.
